In reality, the friend who always answers our calls, the barista who doubles as our therapist, and the co-worker who invited us out during our first crushingly lonely week in a new city can feel as much like our family as the clan we’re born into.

Balancing a composition involves arranging both positive elements and negative space in such a way that no one area of the design overpowers other areas. Everything works together and fits together in a seamless whole. The individual parts contribute to their sum but don’t try to become the sum.

Death Valley Road Trip

My foray into this forsaken Valley of Death was simply not long enough. Death Valley for one is immense and two, it holds untold beauty. Being a catcher of light is easy when, the colors of your surroundings radiate morning noon or night. The vastness sprawls before in unrelenting heat. The highway is a melting licorice ribbon. Cumulus clouds dance in an azure sky and at night it is a dark sky spot, which  makes it perfect to stretch out  for stargazing.

Route 66, Steinbeck’s Mother Road still reeks of nostalgia of a bygone era along it course in California.  My favorite two along the route in California are Amboy & Barstow. Returning from Death Valley recently, I took the opportunity to cruise the old Route 66 road through Barstow. Was I ever so happy I did. Read on and enjoy.

Palm Springs Road Trip

Top down wearing RayBans desert heat blasting through my hair…ahhh..Palm Springs. Cool Mojitos poolside, pulling out my neon pastels. You can still envision this as the playground of the rich and famous. Names like Sinatra, Leonardo Di Caprio, Brad & Angelina, the Rat Pack, all on once graced Palm Canyon Drive. Like everything else it has grown up a bit, so let’s take tour.
